At this week’s “Sneak Peek” event, Logitech unveiled 2 high-definition (HD) Web cameras: one for desktops (the QuickCam 9000) and one for laptops (QuickCam Pro for notebooks). Both have an MSRP of $99.99 each but you can get them for $10 less or so at Circuit City or TechDepot/OfficeDepot.

Both Webcams will ship in July (but available now online) and embody:- a Carl Zeiss lens/optics (under an exclusive agreement);
- a super silent autofocus system;
- a 2 mega-pixels sensor (vs 1.3 before) that can capture an 8 megapixels photo using software interpolation;
- support for 720p HD video format at a resolution of 960×720;
- Logitech’s RightSound technology with background noise cancellation in addition of echo cancellation. The software identifies the difference between signals from the speaker’s voice and the background noise. The enhanced technology was introduced last March at the Cebit conference with the QuickCam for Notebooks;
- and the fun Video Effects software that now includes 10 “fun filters”, in addition of 3D avatars and face accessories that mimic actual facial expressions and motions!
